Dark Fantasy writer Robert J Clark set out to re-invent the vampire genre which he felt had become stale and unimaginative.  He did this by creating a terrifying vision of the future and setting it in a stark alternate reality just slightly removed from our own.  Instead of making the vampire the villain he made Jacque the hero and promoted the usually weak and submissive woman to a strong and powerful presence.  The key, in fact, to the whole tale.

Reading the clues left for him Jacque soon discovers that even his seemingly idyllic world is teetering on the edge of disaster and that unless he acts now his immortality could soon end.
